Our doctors are qualified to diagnose and treat minor skin diseases and to perform biopsies and excisions of medically necessary lesions. We do all of these procedures in our clinic, usually in half an hour or less.
If you have any skin lesions which you are concerned about, or changing lumps or bumps, your family doctor can refer you to set up a consultation appointment if intervention is necessary. Most appointments are usually booked within 2-3 weeks time.
We are excited to announce that Dr. Mitra Arjang has joined our practice with her experience in general surgery. She will be offering minor office surgeries including vasectomies for people who have decided that they have completed their families, and circumcisions for newborn baby boys. We also accept referrals for a wide range of minor surgeries (listed below).
Wart removal is done in office over a few sessions with cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen). Genital, and palmo-plantar warts are covered by Alberta Health, but common warts are not.
Sometimes you have a new bump or lump that needs attention and we can inject or biopsy some of those after a consultation. Common ones include sebaceous cysts, ganglion cysts, and skin tags. If it's more complex, they may need imaging or referral elsewhere.
Sun damaged areas can be prone to skin cancer so watch those closely. Please let us know if a mole has changed, is bleeding, itchy, or growing fast.
Women who experience abnormal bleeding may need a biopsy of their endometrium (lining of the uterus) to investigate further.
Vasectomy is now available at our clinic! Please see the detailed vasectomy page for more information.
Circumcision is now available for babies 1-3 months old (without consultation). Please be aware circumcision is not covered by Alberta Health Services. For details about the procedure, please visit the circumcision page.
Anorectal symptoms can be due to different conditions, including hemorrhoids, anal fissures, rectal abscess, anal fistulas and pruritis ani. To learn more about how we can help, visit the anorectal page.
Dr. Arjang also offers toe nail excision, minor scar revision, keloid/hypertrophic scar excision, anal skin tag removal, lipoma/fibroma/dermatofibroma excision.
Additional information and associated costs will be discussed during your consultation appointment with Dr. Arjang.
While Alberta Health pays for most medically necessary procedures, certain ones are not covered. Circumcision, most scar revisions, and cosmetic mole removal requires direct payment. Please see our uninsured services page for more information.
