No. We are strictly a family practice by appointment only.
We do our best to accommodate same day appointments for emergent issues, but most of the time we are fully booked and can't do so. Our clinic is a part of the Primary Care Network, which offers a service in order to be referred to the West PCN Clinic same day, but if they are full you may have to go to an Urgent Care or nearest emergency centre depending on the issue. You may also call 811 to speak to a nurse regarding your concerns and they will instruct you further.
If you have cold or flu symptoms, we would appreciate if you could wear a mask. Otherwise, you don't have to. This is subject to change based on the guidelines put forth by AHS.
Please book with your doctor in advance for medication refills. The doctors don't do refills by fax without seeing their patient. If you really need medication now, you may pay a $35 refill fee and the prescription can be faxed to your pharmacy (if your doctor is available that day). Most pharmacies will also provide some medication to tide you over until you next see your family doctor.
Same day cancellations are subject to a fee of $70 to $140 (depending on the length of the appointment). This also applies to No Shows (if you don't show up for your appointment with no notice). We do our best to send text reminders or phone you, but please make sure you keep your appointment information in a calendar somewhere. Showing up 15+ minutes late to your appointment may result in it being cancelled as well, so make sure to arrive on time and provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to rebook or cancel your appointment.
For abnormal results, we will phone you to come in and see your doctor. For labs which come back normal we usually don't phone. If you still want to discuss them with your doctor, you are welcome to book an appointment. If you would like a copy of your labs, you will have to ask your doctor or sign up for myhealthrecords or our patient portal Ava Connect, and you will have access to all of your lab results as soon as they are in. Please be aware the staff can't discuss the details of your bloodwork results with you.
Please call us or visit the IUD FAQ page for information.
Once you have a family doctor at our clinic, you cannot switch between them. Any issues should be addressed with your physician.
Most services are covered by your Alberta Health Plan, but there are some uninsured services. Some of those include: form completion, driver's medicals, wart removals and work notes. Please visit the uninsured services page for more information.
You will need to book an appointment. We do not provide prescriptions without seeing a doctor. If you think you have a UTI, you may come in to the clinic and provide us with a urine sample and we can send it to the lab same day for culture, and depending on the bacteria that grows, your doctor will provide the best possible antibiotic.
No. There is no wait list either, unfortunately. Please visit albertafindadoctor.ca in order to find a doctor that is accepting new patients.
If you've lost your lab requisition, or the doctor wants you to fill out a form prior to your next visit we can email you the attachment. If we can't reach you by phone, we also sometimes email you. Our office doesn't send your info to any third parties and is strictly used for clinic purposes. Any attachments or information that is confidential will be emailed through our encryption service (you will have to follow some steps to open the email this way). If there are any changes to your email address, please notify us right away.
